Gala Dalí (born Elena Ivanovna Diakonova, Елена Ивановна Дьяконова; 7 September [O.S. 26 August] 1894 – 10 June 1982), usually known simply as Gala, was an artist and businesswoman who strongly focused on expressing herself through fashion. She was also the wife of poet Paul Éluard (1895–1952) and later of artist Salvador Dalí (1904–1989), who were both prominent in surrealism. Her creative circle strengthened her role as a stand-alone creator while she also inspired many other writers and artists.
